Cookie Murphy

1998 - 2016

Cookie Murphy, aka Cookie Monster, Buddy, beloved cat of Shelly Murphy and Brock Peterson, lost his battle with cancer and crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, February 20, 2016.

Cookie was born on October 11, 1998 on Stockton Drive in Owensboro, KY. He loved to play fetch like a dog and he loved to give kisses. Cookie was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2011 and was treated with a radioiodine treatment in January 2012 in Cincinnati, OH. Cookie developed diabetes in November 2012 and was considered an uncontrolled case. He made two visits to the University of Tennessee Veterinary School in Knoxville, TN in 2013 for specialized treatment. Cookie was diagnosed with fiber sarcoma in May 2015 and made two to visits to Ohio State University Veterinary School in Columbus, OH where his left leg was amputated in July 2015 to remove the cancer. Cookie was found to have cancer in his left jaw and his lungs in January 2016 but, as with his previous cancer, he was still his happy, playful self.

Cookie is survived by his human parents, Shelly Murphy and Brock Peterson, and his furry sisters, Precious and Lola. Cookie left such a void in our lives but we know he’s watching over us and we’ll be reunited one day.
