K9 Bady

Owensboro Police Department
K9 BADY
EOW December 1st, 2014

Bady started his Law Enforcement career in January of 2003. Bady was imported from Slovakia through John Haller’s Top Dog Police Academy in Evansville IN. He was 11 months old and placed with Officer Steve Morgan. Bady and Steve were certified on March 12th, 2003 in narcotics detection and patrol. Bady was retired due to health reasons on April 20th, 2012. During his career, he had many apprehensions and assisted OPD with many arrests. One of his most memorable cases was when he was called to assist by tracking a kidnapping suspect. The suspect was arrested and bady’s track helped convict him. The case would end up in the Kentucky Supreme Court and was upheld. The suspect is now serving a life sentence with no chance of parole. This case is the leading tracking case in KY and has been used by several other state’s Supreme Court’s in making decisions on their tracking cases. The funniest case was when officers had a vehicle stopped and had arrested the driver on a warrant and called Officer Morgan and Bady to search the interior of the vehicle. Bady located the driver’s subway sandwich, still in the wrapper. Bady began eating the sandwich while looking at the driver, as if taunting him. Bady served not only for the City of Owensboro but was called to assist the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department along with several surrounding Counties. After his retirement, Bady served as Steve’s personal woodshop partner. He loved to be in the shop anytime Steve was there and enjoyed just being around Steve. BADY was truly loved and is missed greatly.
