sebastian

2010 - 2016

Perhaps this is my therapy to ease the grief of losing a beloved fur family is by writing our story. Sebastian was not treated as dog but as family but in a furry, four-legged form.

Sebastian came into my life 16 years ago when I was going through rough times. He came in perfect timing graced by God. He had such a classy demeanor, was in great shape, and had good manners.

Unfortunately (or fortunately for me) when we found him, my lost and found postings online came out unclaimed for few months. Whilst waiting for responses, I told myself not to fall in-love with him and that resulted in failure 😁 πŸ˜‰. So I ended microchipping him, given his vaccinations, and declared Sebastian (our given name for him) as my fur child. He did not once act juvenile and I was thankful and blessed for that.

As our life moved forward, we made such wonderful memories. It was never a dull moment for us, his human and other furry siblings. We made wonderful memories traveling by car, by plane and also went plenty of walks. He would strut by my side while keeping up with my pace, and I would walk him, not the other way round. I would take him to work occasionally as my cutie assistant and as security detail. πŸ˜‚ He filled every one’s hearts with joy. πŸ₯°πŸ˜

He may have had some training with behavior and listening skills, (from his previous house?) which some children needed. Or what must have been his exquisite or extraordinary temperament πŸ’—πŸ˜

The only pet peeve I have of Sebastian is him running away at high octane speeds by any chance he sees a door/gate open. πŸ˜–πŸ˜« He accelerated like a road runner, I’m not kidding! 😝 He’s done this quite a handful times, and these nearly gave me a heart attack!! Luckily, we moved into our permanent home and our yard is secured from his escapes. Maybe he wanted to explore more than just places he has been to.

Perhaps his desires have come through fruition since he came into my life because Sebastian was a well traveled Pommie. 😎🀩😍 He has been to Mississippi, Florida, Virginia, and California. Places his paws have touched are: Destin Beach, Fl; Virginia Beach, VA; in California: Golden Gate Bridge, Ocean Beach, Stanford University, Google Headquarters, Facebook Headquarters, and Sequoia State National Park.

His life had a simple routine. Wake up, bathroom, eat, take plenty of naps/sleep, play with his furry siblings. He would also demand cuddles with his hooman family, most specially his Mamma. πŸ₯° After a tough routine of sleeping and cuddles, he would demand treats by barking pointing his nose where the treats are stored. He also recognized the names of his hooman family as well as his furry siblings.

A few months ago as his health started slowly declining, he started losing hearing and getting a cataract. He still managed and adapted to his condition. Even though he was going through his β€œnew norm”, he still acted joyful and playful. Just recently, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure due to fainting spells.

Less than a week after his CHF diagnosis, on March 14 he passed at 11:40 am surrounded by his beloved family. It was a very hard day for us all and left a void in all our hearts and household. He left knowing his life was well lived.

Lots of things for sure will be amiss: shadow always behind me, soft cuddles, greetings at the door, no one encroaching my space, the tiny sound of foot steps, and the unconditional love of my Sebastian.

I hope you enjoy viewing these snap shots of our life together showcasing the spoiled life of Sir Sebastian spanning 16 years. 😊 πŸ₯°
