Alien, my beloved companion - I remember the day you were born, trying to come into the world feet first. I helped you that day and you helped me everyday after that. You waited patiently at the door for me everyday. You tolerated your human sister and brother, but never let them forget that you held a special place in my heart too. You were my best friend and companion for 18 years. Now I mourn your loss but know the cancer can no longer hurt you. I know you are safe and in the loving arms of your brothers and sisters in fields of green that go on forever. Just as I know that when my time comes, you will be waiting patiently for me by the door of heaven wondering what took me so long to get home.
